Queensland rowers invited to trial for World Championships

Nine QLDers off to National Selection Trials

Following successful racing campaigns at the New South Wales Rowing Championships, Queensland rowers have been invited to attend the Rowing Australia Selection Trials in Penrith, NSW from 11-17 March.

Our Tokyo Olympians, Caitlin Cronin (UQBC) and Ria Thompson (UQBC) are returning in the sculling group and are now joined by Kate Rowan (SUBC) who raced in the Australian Women’s Quad last year.

In the Women’s Sweep Squad, Queensland will be represented by Lily Alton (UQBC) who is part of the National Training Centre and Sarah Tisdall (UQBC) who has returned from the UK, where she rowed for Cambridge University.

In the Under 23 category, Lucy Hope and Phoebe Robinson (UQBC) are vying for a position in the sweep squad following a podium finish in the U23 Women’s Pair at the NSW Rowing Championships. They are joined by Danica Free (GUSPRC/QAS) and Hannah Kenway (BGPS/QAS) in the sculling group.

The Australian Rowing Team for the World Cup Tour will be announced on 17 March, with the final announcement no later than 4 August 2023.

The Under 23 Australian Rowing Team will be announced in March.

Good luck athletes and coaches!
