About Allies for Women in Rowing
Our Vision
We exist to actively support, celebrate, and develop women in rowing in Queensland.
Our Purpose
We realise our vision through:
- Increasing the visibility and voice of women
- Providing growth and support opportunities
- Influencing relevant policies
- Drawing on the collective wisdom, imagination and support of the Queensland rowing community
Our Objectives
Increase the number of professional development opportunities available to women
Our Targets
- Mentoring network active by end of 2022 with at least 6 mentors + 6 mentees
- 2 open inclusive live or online development & networking events per year
- Support group maintains active membership of at least 10
Increase the feeling of ‘belonging’ among female coaches, officials, and administrators
Our Targets
- Baseline: Understand women’s current perceptions of community & belonging
- Collect & share 1 ‘profiling’ story per month
Increase awareness and interest in coaching, officiating, and administrating among women
Our Targets
- Baseline: Understand women’s current awareness & attitudes towards coaching, officiating & administration development pathways
- Interest & awareness goes up not down over the next 2 years
Increase confidence and aspiration levels of female coaches, officials, and administrators
Our Targets
- Baseline: Understand women’s current confidence levels & aspirations around coaching, officiating, & administration roles
Increase the level of female coach accreditation and participation in ongoing education
Our Targets
- An equal proportion of women & men apply for level 2/3 accreditation by 2024
- Collect & share 3 stories per year of career progression & barriers experienced
- Yearly data on: per year attrition rate; years of coaching; returns to coaching; Applications for level 2/3 accreditation; No. per year moving up an accreditation level
Increase female representation on club executives (including role diversity)

- Collect and share 3 stories per year about new/existing practices & policies at clubs, schools, RQ
